Terms of use

Last updated 18 August 2026

The service

remove-exif.com is a free tool that inspects and removes metadata from files. All processing happens in your browser on your own device.

No warranty

The tool is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Metadata removal is best-effort: file formats are extensible, and a format can carry vendor data in places no tool anticipates. If the consequences of a leak are serious — you are a journalist protecting a source, or someone escaping an abusive situation — verify the result independently with a tool such as exiftool before you publish. We publish our own verification method for exactly this reason.

Keep your originals

Always keep a copy of the original file. We are not liable for any loss or corruption of files processed with this tool.

Acceptable use

Do not use this site to strip metadata from material you have no right to possess or distribute, or in the course of committing an offence. You are responsible for what you process and for what you do with the result.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any direct, indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this site.
